In 1981, I was trying to persuade one of the top costumers in Dallas to costume my own first musical production, Once Upon Vaudeville. As a trade off, one of my top production associates and I had to appear on stage as extras in the opera Carmen which the costumer was designing at the time. As extras, we were to portray Spanish guitarists for the featured flaminco star (pictured above). The orchestra leader went ballisitic as we actually played along with the score of the music. They tried to remove our guitar strings (we re-strung them) and even tried to break the necks of the guitar (we fixed them). On closing night, I created a Cyrano De Bergerac nose to wear on stage which cracked up the international superstar (pictured above). We became good friends. Name this famous Flaminco Dancer and... Name the Sunday Night Variety program of the 50's/60's where he appeared often and gained popularity in the United States. Good luck!
